Over the last 5 years, we’ve helped to develop Deloitte’s Shared Services Conference, a European conference with a global reach. Every year, we have the same three goals: to increase networking opportunities, grow sponsor engagement, and create an immersive conference with a personalised touch. As the conference has adapted over time, so has its approach to sustainability.
In 2023, we were briefed to develop the theme “Imagine. Innovate. Impact.” throughout the creative, tech, design, and sponsorship. Deloitte follows strict guidelines in line with the World Climate strategy, so our designers had to minimise the environmental impact while making the conference even more impactful.
Every element was in line with our sustainability pillars - reduce, reuse, and recycle. We educated all key stakeholders and calculated our carbon offset for every element of the event. Stage, sponsor and exhibition structures, as well as tech equipment, were all reused or recycled. We also partnered with local suppliers, staff, and sourced materials meaning we limited wastage and transportation. All this, and more, contributed to a reduction in carbon emissions from 285 metric tonnes of CO2 in 2022 to 171 metric tonnes in 2023.
